Hi, I'm Phong, a Senior Product Designer based in Melbourne with over a decade of experience turning complex problems into products people actually enjoy using.

I started out in graphic design, but curiosity about how people interact with technology pulled me toward UX and product strategy. That path has taken me through some fascinating spaces, from navigating FinTech ecosystems at NAB and Westpac to designing apps that help Cochlear users set up and manage their hearing devices. Along the way I've developed a knack for translating intricate business challenges into experiences that feel simple and human, grounded in empathy, evidence, and a belief that good design should be inclusive and functional, not just beautiful.

I've spent time embedded with cross-functional teams at Deloitte Digital and obsessing over how people find their next home at View.com.au. Different contexts, same north star. Products that are accessible, intuitive, and genuinely useful.

At View.com.au, I focus on bridging the gap between property discovery and mortgage engagement to create a seamless end-to-end customer journeys. I work closely with product and business stakeholders to prioritise features that balance user needs with revenue and growth objectives, specifically identifying and removing friction across high-intent flows like search and broker connections. By translating complex financial and property concepts into intuitive, user-friendly interfaces, I’ve helped improve user confidence and comprehension, while using behavioural data and design thinking to influence the overall product direction.

Bendigo Bank, MyState Bank, P&O, R.M.Williams, HCF & Country Road Group

Conducted UX/UI experimentation to improve on-site customer experiences and optimise the sales journey/onboarding process. Mapped user flows and customer journeys to simplify the onboarding process. Facilitated design ticketing and discovery workshops to collect stakeholder feedback, identify user pain points, and guide key design decisions. Presented work and insights to clients, ensuring alignment and transparency throughout the project lifecycle.

Cochlear

June 2024 – April 2025

While working with Cochlear, I led UX discovery initiatives and journey mapping across multiple products to uncover opportunities and mitigate risks within the customer experience. I facilitated stakeholder validation sessions to ensure design requirements remained aligned with business goals and technical constraints. My focus was on delivering end-to-end solutions—from low-fidelity wireframes to high-fidelity prototypes—that consolidated misaligned experiences and reduced technical debt. By streamlining these flows, I helped create a more cohesive digital ecosystem that addressed key business objectives while simplifying the experience for the end-user.

NAB

October 2022 – April 2024

Designed high-fidelity UI and prototypes for web and app onboarding experiences catering to both existing and new customers. Shaped and designed a highly technical API developer portal tailored for internal and external users. Delivered user-centric UX utilising research metrics such as heuristics, competitor analysis, and friction metrics. Conducted regular customer testing, synthesised insights, and presented results to key stakeholders. Contributed to the client’s design system by crafting reusable components for the design library, thereby ensuring consistent and efficient design processes.

Designed high-fidelity UI and prototypes for onboarding existing customers, ensuring a seamless user experience. Facilitated discovery workshops with major stakeholders, presenting user flows, stories, and designs to outline use cases and align on a shared vision. Led technical validation sessions with business analysts and technical teams to ensure design feasibility and alignment. Collaborated across teams to unite stakeholders, fostering a cohesive vision and ensuring comprehensive project alignment.

Worked across a diverse range of clients including Coles, Jetstar, BP, Bupa, Medibank, Renault, Virgin Australia, Gomo, and Optus, leading quality control initiatives to maintain top-tier design standards while delivering high-value digital advertising campaigns, landing pages, eDMs, user flows, and bespoke digital products; also collaborated with Medibank stakeholders to introduce new technical processes through workshops and learning sessions that enabled the rapid creation and launch of over 1,000 digital ad campaigns within minutes.
